Why would a freehub stop making a clicking noise

I noticed today my freehub has stoped making a clicking noise when freewheeling or moving the bike while walking. It used to make a clicking noise, and can't think why it would stop, not done any recent servicing in that area on the bike either.

Do I need to worry, the freehub functions as I would expect and will freewheel fine, and no issues when putting some power down either

    Possibly the pawls on the ratchet mechanism aren't free enough (grit, crud, rust, cruft or other beastly ooohhmska). I'd be a little concerned, as the last time a freehub did that to me it started sticking fairly shortly after that. I'd take the freehub off and have a look inside.

    Still no change and works as expected but just with no noise, but after looking at the state of my chain, cassette and chainrings its time for a upgrade so just ordered a new one :)
