Twin discs, or seeing double?
I saw a bike last night that I'd swear had twin disc rotors on the front wheel. I didn't get a close enough look to see if there was a brake on each side, but I'm pretty sure there were two rotors.

What else could it have been?

Am I just seeing things?

If not, how much braking can you possibly need? And of course . . .
-
How useful is it likely to be on a flat road in Hertfordshire?

Probably an old bike? Some people experimented with twin disks in the 90sA Flock of Birds

I've heard Avid Juicy's could benefit from a second caliper
However, how would you even drive two calipers? Remove the rear and have one in each hand? You'd probably spend most of your time braking on your face I think.0 -

So there really could be someone tootling around Hemel Hempstead with a pair of discs on the front - amazing. Has anyone out there ever tried one of these? It might make sense on a tandem, but it looks like a fair bit of added weight for more braking than you could possibly need on a solo bike. Or does it improve something else like modulation or cooling?Specialized Roubaix Elite 2015

Cooling would be better i guess and possibly modulation? but far too much on a skinny (reletive) front wheel.

I just found this . . .

 indeed!
Quick Edit: I've just been to the Gatorbrake website (Gatorbrake.com, of course) - their slogan is "Deadly Braking Force", which may be just an unfortunate choice by someone whose first language isn't English, or just a fair warning. And yes, they offer a front hub with 6-bolt fittings on both sidesSpecialized Roubaix Elite 2015

With carbon fibre discs? Look like they gone out of there way to make what they think is a "cool" product.. When in reality, they have created tosh that probably won't work...... Or kill you...Always remember.... Wherever you go, there you are.

Seen it on budget bikes for the 'cool' factor'.
It doesn't improve the 'power' of the brakes (as the effort is split between them), but would help with cooling as mentioned above, and splits the forces on the fork.0 -
I'd wager:
as the effort is split between them
This is 100% efficent either.0 -
