The newbee chain advice

Not wishing to stir anything up...but prompted by a recent series of posts about chains breaking...
What ways are there for joining a 10 speed Shimano 105 chain on a triple?
I have seen connecting pins with 2 rings and three rings, 'easy' links and re-useable links. Which is the right one?
I haven't fixed a chain since 1964! They were re-useable links with clips which came off with a twist of a screw driver and pins were driven out with a hammer and slotted screw driver (didn't have nice pointy cross head ones in those days!). Didn't have a chain tool, use to place the chain on kerb stone and hit it with the hammer! Well I was only 11 years old!
Thought it was time to learn how to do it properly.

I just use KMC quicklink for both 9 and 10 speed versions.
I wouldnt be without them.
The Wippermann link has to be put on in one way only or the chain will skip, but I never can remember which way, hence I use KMC... chains breaking..? only if you skip the maintenance and cant see the signs of side plate cracks and anything else obvious0 -

Thanks for that, really helpful I will go with the KMC quicklink, and carry one just in case. Problem solved.
I guess from the response that not many people have had a chain break, which is also reassuring.my isetta is a 300cc bike0 -

Not that common, although I have pinged one on my mtb. However having a KMC link in there is very useful for taking the chain off to clean / degrease it regularly and cleaning sprocket, rear mech and chainrings whilst its offBianchi Infinito CV
