    surface mud and branches i'm not going to give you though as you'd not expect a country lane to be 100% free.

    And Sustrans are not going to pay for sweapers. should see one of their routes nr my folks place, clips though the edge of a very old Beach wood, you know where the path is by feel, as it's hidden under the leaf litter.

    Nope. Should be open.

    They have had problems with Gypsys in the past which is why that first gate is locked but why the second gate was shut God knows.

    What's wrong with bollards?

    This, I've seen almost as much dead wood on the Embankment after some strong winds. But yes, the concrete and gates are a bit ridiculous.

    I think what annoys me the most is that it's almost a perfect cycle route. It gets away from a motorway junction and along a VERY busy dual carriageway (M1 / M6 link) to Castle Donington and beyond. It's actually well thought out in terms of the route but the execution is just appalling.
