Xt shifter maintenance

My 27 speed xt speed shifters seem to stick really badly on occasions

I'm going to fit new cables which are due, but also could certainly do with some internal maintenance and grease the bearings. I have a few concerns regarding the difficulty of this and how likely the shifters would explode into loads of little pieces if i'm not careful

How easy is it to do the bearings and are there any do's or dont's

Cheers

The XTs don't have bearings (I believe), so not worth taking apart as a rule. I have found a generous squirt of GT85 inside keeps them smooth running for quite a while. Repeat as necessary.
