First ride on new bike

Hi got a merida ride 93 and had my first ride on it today after setting it up and clipping in i cannot believe how well the bike rides and accelerates as only had mtb before .And how much stiffer road shoes are than mtb ones
My normal commmute takes about 50 mins on the mtb hoping to cut a few minutes off that.

    Congrats on the new bike, hope it's going well
    I got a Cannondale Synapse alloy last friday, couple of rides so far and had similar experience - couldn't believe it, after riding mountain bikes all my cycling years. I've never felt so 'part of the machine'.
    I'd ridden a ten mile route a few days earlier on my mountain bike, so I did it again on the cannondale and promptly knocked 9 minutes off the time, how'd you do ?
