Just met a bloke in Cambridge centre using a Look KG86 Hinault Kevlar (lugged carbon, full Dura Ace with downtube shifters) as a runabout. Great big chain knocking chunks out of it; carbon all scuffed and battered.

The worst thing: he'd bought it off a graduated friend for less than £100 all in, immaculate.

I've seen a bloke round these parts ride a Raleigh 653 Castorama replica as a commuter with Race Blades on it - shame. Admittedly, I did once have my old race bike (Cougar Columbus SLX New, apparently built by Terry D. himself) as my commuting bike with 'guards on it, but still kept it in good shape all the same.
