flying with Bike BoxAlan

I wasn't sure what section to put this in but as I'll be using it to go to a Sportive then I guess this section will do. Does anyone have any experience flying BA with a BikeBoxAlan? Weight shouldn't be an issue but having checked their website it seems this case is slightly outside their allowed dimensions. How do I deal with this or is it not an problem? The Alan is the box that I have so please no suggestions on alternatives just need to know if BA will have an issue with it. Cheers

They are the same as SciCon so it shouldn't be a problem. The dimensions are I think less than the BA regs (or were).

Never seen them measure the bike boxes bigger than an BBAlan. They usually point you towards the oversize baggage shute. Should be fine.

Those cases are within regulation size. You check in, take the case to oversize baggage and then wait at the other end - depends which airport as some have special collection areas and others put them on the regular carousel (same in the UK)

  • Cheers guys. This puts my mind at rest, now I just have to organise a rental car and I'm all sorted.

I've flown BA and Easyjet with a BBA and had no problems. Just leave a bit of extra time when checking in as you will have to go to the oversized baggage bit.

Make sure it fits in your rental car. One will go in a fiesta with the back seats down with a bit of a squeeze but i doubt they would go in anything smaller than that!
