Can anyone reccomend any descent Light weight Trail tyres - I ride Dalby - Nth yorks moors - Hamsterley - So its mostly sandy soil , not shale.
I,m having a go at building up a "weight weenie" for the spring, - and I read on here about the benefits of going tubeless and lightening your wheelset , So I was thinking around 500g / 600g ??
Just wondered if any of you lads who ride / race in the same areas had any advice or preferences.
I Ran Maxxi high rollers, last year and they performed great for were I ride - but they weigh in at around 830g ?. Cheers.

Nobby Nic TL ready.
2.25" = 545g
2.1" = 470g
Either run tubeless with stans tape, valve and sealant (if you've got a tubeless wheelset), or use tubes.
OR, if you really liked your High Rollers, just go for the single-ply, kevlar versions.
2.35" = 690g
2.1" = 520g0 -
Panaracer Fire XC Pro, love 'em! I use 1.0-1.5 tubes inside 2.1s just 120g, lighter than tubeless.
SimonCurrently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.0 -

+1 for the Fires' I use the 1.8s at places like Cannock etc and they grip fine, very hard wearing and cuts straight through any mud Not sure bout' weight but I assume 1.8s will be lighter....Swveeeet¡¡¡0

Both Specialised and Bontrager offer a range of tubeless ready tyres, I prefer Specialised which are very light and grip reasonably well in most situations but recent bontrager tubeless tyres are very light and get great reviews.
I run Purgatory 2.2 front and Captain Control 2.0 rear on my full suss. Ride Cannock/Peaks most of the time with frequent trips to Wales.0 -

The eXCeption version of the 2.1 inch maxxis ADvantage is 555g and a nice balance of grip and rolling resistance imo. Im currently using one on the rear with a single ply 2.35 high roller up front0
