Peak District
Off to the peaks for a weekend soon. Can anybody recommend us a couple of routes?

That gave us several to choose from but want to know your opinions of them and whether or not there is anything even better!
I used to love trail centres, but now I can't stand them! Far prefer the natural routes.

This time of year I would avoid Cut Gate.
Probably The Hope Triple 8 and jacobs ladder are the ones to go for as long as the wather is good.
Wet and windy is no fun up there.0 -
Depends where you're staying?
Dark Peak, mainly Millstone Grit/Peat so grinding paste when wet:-
Cut Gate this time of year is OK as long as it's cold enough to frost or after a dry spell...otherwise it's a bog in places  (I'm 10 mins away and tend to avoid it if it's been really wet)The route in your link Doctors Gate/Cutgate is very long and has a 5 mile ride along the A57 Snake-pass(race-track)Very busy with sports-bikes at week-ends etc
Anywhere around Hope/Ladybower is good but the Hope Triple8 route misses out some good bits The Edale (Jacobs Ladder) route is pretty much all weather but tops out at around 1800ft/asl and can be grim in bad weather 8)
All the other routes in your link are White Peak routes,Limestone territory much of which I haven't explored sadly :roll:0 -
Hi,
The attached link has some very good routes that include the White & Dark peak so should give you a wide variety of choice. A route I would highly recommend is the Rowsley Circuit in the White Peak, should go all year round but mud tyres would be wise during the winter months, unfortunately I cannot find a route to send you a link but I'm sure it's been an MBR killer Loop in the past. Enjoy your rides in the Peak wherever you decide to ride. http://mtbmonkey.com/RoutesDerbyShire.html0
