This is purely for the wolves out there who regularly enjoy some rumpy pumpy or/and want to have kids.
Alcock syndrome - how prevalent is this in the cycling world? Have you experienced it, if yes, do tell us what you went through.
Do you guys worry about it and what have you done specifically to limit where you can, damage caused (I say damage where some may say a cheaper way of getting the snip).
Only found out about this from general bike reading, actually quite scary if Im honest.
What are your thoughts?

"Numbness of the genital region was reported by 61% of the cyclists. 19% of cyclists who had a weekly training distance of more than 400 km complained of erectile dysfunction. The results of the present study showed that there is a deficiency in penile perfusion due to perineal arterial compression. This could be a reason for penile numbness and impotence in long-distance cyclists. Therefore, we suggest restricting the training distance, and taking sufficient pauses during the course of prolonged and vigorous bicycle riding, in order to avoid penile numbness and impotence".

"A relationship between sexual dysfunction and bicycling may be more common than formerly suspected".

This is back again!!!!!
Personally no probs whenever this is mentioned to me I usually reply with the fact that Jens Voigt has 6 kids Boardman 4 etc. If you read the study fully it is in men over the age of 45. Strangely the stats in the rest of the population for erectile problems is about the same.
Let me guess next we'll her of a saddle to cure this problem.
Yawn.
PS your research is over 10 years old.0 -
ah right, I thought itd be about but when I searched it it, no results.
Yeah they are quite old. considering these findings, does that mean more stringent tests are carried out and designed to comply with saddle safety on more recent saddles? if any industry changes have been made of course.
or are there for example, alcock syndrome safety type saddles out there?
i myself use a budget saddle which is the spoon charge.Scott Aspect 40 20110 -
What it mostly means is if you're getting numbness you need to change your saddle.
I'm happy riding 80-100 miles at a time with no numbness, I have however got 3 saddles at home that will never go on a bike I'm planning to ride. The difficulty is that since we are all different the saddle that works for me probably won't work for you.0
