Short but stiff forks

I have just taken the Domains off my On-One 456 Summer Season & replaced them with a set of Tora SL's. I'm not really using the bike for freeride any more & had a spare set of Tora's in the shed. I'm finding the Tora's extremely flexy, they just won't hold a line when I push it a bit on descents. They have got a QR drop out so I think that may be part of the problem.
Are all QR forks really flexy compared to maxle? I do push quite hard when descending & I am a fairly heavy at 15.5 stone.
Do Rockshox make a 120mm - 140mm (ideally 120mm) fork which is stiff & light which I could get new or nearly new for about £200?

The Domain is probably the stiffest fork on the market, so anything else will feel flexy!
What wheels will you be using?0 -
The Tora's are ridiculously flexy. They flex enough for the 2.3" tyre to rub on the arch where there is about 8mm clearance!
Wheels are at the moment Alex TD24 rims on Formula hubs but will be building some with a Superstar switch evo hub & Atomlab Pimplite rims. I have got a spare superstar hub which I want to use so that gives me the option of any size axle. Would a 9mm bolt through be better than a standard QR?
The Domains were amazing, other than the weight they are better than my Lyrik's but far too heavy to use for XC.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350 -
Tora SL is stiffer than a Reba and Revelation. 9mm 'thru bolt' makes no difference with standard QR dropouts in my opinion. Though to flex that much sounds like there is a problem somewhere, probably those wheels bending.
If getting a switch hub, might as well use a thru axle fork. Have a look at the Argyle series.0 -
I always rated Pikes, basically replaced by the Sektor/Revelation range. Good blend of stiffness, excellent damping and tunability (if you get motion control and a dual air spring) and light weight.I had to beat them to death with their own shoes...

You want a fork with a 15mm/20mm axle, so look at the sektor/revelation. That or argyles, they'll be even stiffer, but heavier (basically a pike without u-turn, if you get the right one).0

Doesn't the Argyle have a dirt jump damper which will have no small bump sensitivity? I will look for a Sektor with 20mm axleTransition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350

Pretty sure the Argyle uses a standard Moco cartridge on the better models (318 & 409, dont know if they still use the same model numbers now though)
Apparently the Pikes are marginally stiffer than the Sektors and Revelations, although they are a touch heavier too. I'd recommend Pike 454 uturn airs (4.6lbs I think) or coils (5lbs) since they are nice and reliable and sub £200 second hand.0
