I have a week in SW France later in the year and was hoping to get some miles in. Having tried Google without success, does anyone know of a rental outlet for road bikes in the area?

I'd start by trying the VeloNew's64 bike shop in the little village of Bidart on the outskirts of Biarritz. Since they're 'proper' local, they should have the best chance of pointing you in the right direction. Their website is www.velonews64.com. Last time I was in there they had a mechanic who spoke decent English, if that might help.Between me & Eddy Merckx we've won pretty much everything worth winning on a bike.0

i would try checking out Yelp... You can usually find that kind of stuff on there. if not, try to find out exactly what city you will be staying in, and that should help you out.
