183mm rear caliper bracket not fitting on boardman fs 2010?

Hi guys,

Really terrible at this stuff. I recently bought a set of hope brakes (183mm disks). Front bracket and caliper goes on just fine, but i've run into a problem with the back one. It is far too close to the disk, and it would need a serious amount of washers to pack it out which would be ridiculous.

I wonder if the frame is non standard or something? Any ideas if there is a part out there I should be using?
I thought about getting a 203mm rotor bracket, but that would probably screw things up even more.

Many thanks!

Kev

So you have bought two front 183 adaptors?

  • Hi Nick, thanks for the reply. Both adapters are different, one is front and one is rear. Im sure it will end up me having screwed up ridiculously somewhere :P

(it's an H adapter on the front, and a B adapter for the rear)

  • I shall sort some piccies in the morn!
  • Looks like the same issue as this.

The set were actually both meant to be M4s, but turns out the rear is an X2 and might only take a 160mm disk.

So have you got any images yet? That is a frame issue with the drop outs that was sorted by On-One so I would not think it is related to the issue on your Boardman,

So why are you trying to fit a J adaptor on the rear?

    Sent/ordered the wrong one.

  • Thanks mate :D Looks like I need a B then...

Heres what I ordered... allegedly everything in the pack needed but ended up being m4 front and tech x2 back.

I wonder whether to bitch about it or just order a part. Thing is the m4's are a bit more expensive than the X2, but i've heard its a good match for someone like me (90kg)

Yes which is what you said you ordered.

And I implied you had got a front one in my first reply which is what you did have.

  • Glad thats that one solved then  Really appreciate it! (yesterday I could've sworn there was a "B" on there, not a "J" which is why I posted that.

Hopefully I can get a bit of cash back off the guy on ebay who sold this set as brand new as 2 x m4 front & rear including mounts.

What do not get is why you linked to what you said you had rather than showing what you actually had?

There was nothing wrong with what you said you had and it would have worked.

Tec stuff is all in the details and the details are what people actually have not what they think they have.

Sorry not a rant at you but people as a whole who can't say what they mean and can't do ESP. ;)

  • Haha no problem Nick. In all fairness it was quite a quick buy and I didnt put as much into the OP as I should have. First time fitting hydraulic disks too so been learning a litte!

    Thanks again,
