I'm looking at buying my first road bike and after many hours of researching, speaking with bike shops etc I've narrowed it down between a 2011 Cube streamer compact or for an extra £350 a 2011 Cube agree pro 30.
basically my budget is more suited towards the streamer and although the frame and general spec is really good, the wheels appear to be a bit of a let down...read some forums where spokes broke or the wheels were upgraded after 500km etc
anyone any experience of either bike that could give me a few pointers......
basically I'm looking at a road bike for more longer rides rather than racing - although maybe eventually taking part in the odd event here and there once I get a lot fitter - eg 60-80 miles - any feedback on riding position/ comfort will be greatly appreciated
I'm not as fit or slim as I used to be either and carrying a couple of extra stone I'm just a bit concerned about the wheels on the Streamer but it may just have been a one off
any feedback grateful and thanks in advance

I liked the look of the Cube Streamer when I started looking but ended up spending a bit more and getting a Cube Agree GTC Race. I just thought it was worth the extra money to get a bike with carbon frame.
For an bike with an alloy frame, the Streamer looks good with decent components, and you should be able to pick up a 2011 model at a discount.0 -
I have the 20111 Streamer, bought in October as a winter bike. In reality it is too good for that but it was a way of getting my girlfriend to agree to me having another bike as I only bought my carbon bike a month before. It is an excellent bike & I can't really fault it. Component wise it is really well specced. Ride position is more on the comfortable side rather than a flat out race position. I've done more than 600 miles on the bike & the only problem I had was a few stiff links in the chain as I washed the bike & didn't lube the chain properly afterwards.
I had the bike for a bargain price & it is well worth the £700 I paid for it on Ebay. CRC have the bike for £859 http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Mode ... elID=572420 -
I bought a 2011 Streamer from CRC for £759 by adding a few things to the order and getting an extra £100 off.
My budget was £1k, so I was looking at a lower spec carbon bike or a higher spec alu bike. I plumped for the latter and am very pleased with my Ultegra equipped and very well made Cube, amazing value at its price. I went for the triple and it's still under 9kg, so very happy.
Wheels will almost always be a compromise where manufacturers try to meet their pricepoint on sub-£1k bikes, so I always factored in the need to upgrade the OEM wheelset, which already need truing after two months of use on rollers only, for Chrissake! I'm keeping it off the road while I use my winter bike. I'm saving for some handbuilts for the summer (Hope Pro3 on Open Pro FWIW).0 -

thanks guys for your replies, I liked the look of the new Peleton race 2012 myself but as it's just out probally wont be discounted (if they have stock left) towards end of the year I'd guess (too tight to pay full price for a new bike -lol) ...thats why I was looking at either the Streamer or the agree pro.....cheers for the info lads..I noticed CRC had it for £859 which is a really good price so I'll give it some serious consideration ( not sure how on earth how I'm going to justify having a 3rd bike now as my wife thinks i'm bad enough having 2) - wummin ehh -they'll never understand -lol
cheers again0
