replacing bearings in headset or replace headset?

Hi,

my headset bearings are shot. Which is best keep the canecreek sp2 ??? headset on there and replace bearings or replace the headset ? The cheaper the better im a student.

If cartridge bearings replace them. If the cups are fine but the balls not talk to the LBS if the cups are shot as well then new headset time.

Sorry not bothering to look up the headset to see wht it is.
