Edinburgh -> Pentlands -> Torduff Road

Anyone know if the Torduff Road that goes up the Pentlands from the Colinton area of Edinburgh is suitable for Road Bikes. I can see on Google maps that it is tarmac'd some of the way but I heard that might not be the case all of the way up. Once the road meets Harlow road I think it is ok as I have seen some routes use Harlow Road, just not sure about the first bit.

Thought it may be an interesting climb out of Edinburgh for a loop of the Pentland hills.

Thanks

M.

  • Hi there! It's fine up to the top of the climb just after Torduff Reservior. But after this it's very lumpy farm track for about a mile to the farm that sits at the top of Poets Glen (sorry cant remember the name!) then you are back on tarmac road to the Harlaw Visitors Centre.

Brilliant, thanks for the help, probably give it a miss on the road bike then, though might just head up and down the climb to the reservoir.
