I was having a quick look on Gumtree and I stumbled across these two beautiful Pinarello bikes... quick grab yourself a bargain/a resprayed Carrera road bike and an unknown resprayed mountain bike!!

Unfortunately, as Steelem once found out a fool and his money are easily parted...

I always assume that the adverts on Gumtree written in capital letters are frauds.

I remember once seeing a high-end MTB on eBay listed as coming from Hong Kong. Remarkable how the pics showed a suburban English 1930s semi and garden. Obviously Hong Kong has some hidden gems

Pinarello do actually make a series of cyclocross bikes called FCX and the paint jobs do look like that.
    Mud - Genesis Vapour CCX
    Race - Fuji Norcom Straight
    Sun - Cervelo R3
Winter / Commute - Dolan ADX

I have 46/34 on my crosser (though I did go for disks rather than the traditional cantis)...

If I had a Pinarello CX frame, I'd furnish it with better ancillaries than shown here.

    Just sayin'...

    Although it might be legit':

But that frame is running cantis and I can't find a matching Carerra frame? Plus to respray and decal would be an ARM and a leg for what it's worth (happy to be proved wrong).

    I reckon it's a Chinese chancer.

No no - it's worth up to a thousand pounds. The seller said so. I think I should buy both - even more of a bargain for me as its local.

Proof, if every you needed it, that you need to be a bit sceptical about Gumtree....

The biggest red flag for me would be why are BC using bikes with Shimano's (almost) cheapest brakest/drivetrain on. No full XTR?
We're in danger of confusing passion with incompetence

It is a cable disc though - presumably that should work though it doesn't exactly look cool.

Yeah, it would work, but for an MTB cable discs are pretty bad.

I don't think it would as "V" levers have a different amount of pull, I could be wrong though

    It depends on the caliper.

Avid BBs come in road (for road lever pull) and mountain (V-brake lever pull) flavours, for example.

thanks for that, as I'm looking to upgrade the CX to disk this year (money permitting) and I was wondering what the difference between the 2 was.
