Strange sound when braking

Hi,
I got my first mtb a couple of weeks ago. When using it recently I noticed a few times that, when I apply the front brake, there is a sort of bubbling sound. It only happens when I first pull the lever for a few seconds, but is a distinct liquidy bubbly sound.
I took the bike to my lbs. They couldn't replicate it, but said it's unlikely there's an air bubble in the brakes (Elixir 3) as that wouldn't produce a sound that was audible when riding.
They thought it could be from the disc itself, hitting the pads, or from part of the front suspension. But they weren't sure.
I was wondering if anyone else has had this, or if anyone knows what it might be?
The brakes still seem to work ok, so I hope it's nothing serious.
Thanks.

it is normal.
just the noise the brakes make as they trap air in the slots groves and holes in the rotor."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

Hi Cubic. I noticed you were asking for routes around Swinley and Surrey Hills area, try these meeting up with these guys:

Friendly bunch who know those areas very well. I ride with them whenever I can.0 -
Chunkers1980 - No, this was at Bicycle in Richmond.
Blind Danny Johnson - Thanks, I'd like to go out with them. Would be good to get to know some routes and meet some fellow mtbers.0 -
Read some threads a while back, apparently you can reduce it by spacing out the caliper a touch, with a thin washer / shim. Not yet tried it myself but keep meaning to.
