DIY Bike Stand

Been mulling over making a bike stand as it doesn't look too hard.
Just wondered if anyone has done this and more importantly figured out the clamp section.
Here's what I've been looking at - the 'pony pipe clamp' looks ideal but is only available in the US.

I'd be afraid of that thing tipping backwards toward that wardrobe, should there not be another leg pointing in the other direction for stability?
I bought one from LIDL during the summer for £35 and it does the job. Here's a pick of my hack-bike sitting in it:

millions on tbe 'bay for between £20 and £30 so if you're budget conscious just go for one of them..
The camera down the willy isn't anything like as bad as it sounds.

another option is to track down a really old or broken turbo trainer (therefore dirt cheap) and just use that - i use an old broken Tacx job occasionally if something is in the workstand..
