Thinking of getting a play bike around 500 mark what would you look at?

9 speed ,sus and discs, yep

Don't mind second hand either or upgrading parts later on.

No offence, but they are really poor value, some 300 quid bikes have better specs than the dartmoor two6player 2011!

I think Saracen have really sorted themselves out this year. The Tufftrax did well in mbuk test and the new Mantra range looks really good.
The Amplitude has been developed by Lance McDermott. Although looking at the Saracen website I think winstanleys have got a little confused with the spec.

I know someone selling a Saracen amplitude al1 for £370, he paid £800 less than a year ago and it's not had much use at all
