Upgrade from Tiagra to 105?

Hi All
I have a 2011 Vitus Dark Plasma, which is fitted with a full Tiagra 9 speed groupset. I am thinking of upgrading the groupset to a 5700 10 speed 105 groupset. Apart from the extra cog, and the cables hidden under the bar tape, will I notice any other differences (such as better shifting etc?)
Thanks
Russ

Not really.0

Not enough to justify the cost for sure!! Other upgrades would be far more beneficial generally - proper bike fit, wheels, tyres, coaching, quality shorts etc0

Yeah really not worth the dosh. Save your money.0

Not really worth the outlay - Spend the money on tyres and/or wheels if you have the spare cash.
I have Tiagra on one bike, 105 on another and Ultegra on another. It might just be me but I prefer the shifting (feel) of the 105 to the others but either groupset doesn't perform any better/worse than the others.
Any differences, IMO would be too marginal for most people to quantify.“Training is like fighting with a gorilla. You don’t stop when you’re tired. You stop when the gorilla is tired.”0 -
Agree with the other comments
Upgrade wheels if you want to buy something
Or . . . .
Bide your time and look out for a nearly new bike on ebay or the classifieds which has the groupset and some wheels that you want. If you can get one at the right price then port all the parts you want over and sell the parts you don't want.
or you could just buy a whole new bike0 -

I only think groupset upgrades work if you can afford to jump more than one grade ie Tiagra to Ultegra before you'll feel any difference. Even then the cost aspect would weigh heavily on my mind and I'd always be thinking it would have been better to buy yet another set of wheels.Norfolk, who nicked all the hills?

My experience is different. When I bought my bike from Evans I arranged to test ride about 6 different bikes back to back. All but one had tiagra and the other had 105. Based on what I had read on this forum I really didn't expect there to be any difference but I found the complete opposite. the 105 was so much more solid feeling (the tiagra felt much more plasticy to me) and the shifts were so much smoother.
In the end I was down to two of the bikes and it was the difference in groupsets that made the decision for me. I'm now a very happy 105 equipped BMC owner
Don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong with Tiagra and it will do the job of changing gears just as well, and it's also probably not worth the amount you'll end up paying to upgrade to 105, but in my opinion the 105 is much nicer.
