Fitting a new back wheel and there's a bit of play on the cassette and can slide it up and down but about 5mm. Is this OK or should I be looking to fit a spacer? If I do I'm not too sure on how best to decide on the size needed with no accurate way of measuring

Yes you do as the body is wider or the 8/9/10 spd cassettes.
Google 7spd spacer. IIRC it should be 4.5mm

    Nice one, Thanks Nicklouse!
  • Spacer can be bodged from a old cassette, hacksaw the the rivets off and you get free spacers!
