Help with bike set up

Hey all,

I have 2 bikes (winter & summer). I got a proper bike fitting when I bought the summer bike, but not when I bought the winter bike, many years ago.

When I ride the summer bike, I can feel after a hard ride that all main muscle groups in my legs have had a decent workout. However, when I ride the winter bike, it is only ever the quads that feel worked, no matter how far or hard I ride.

I don't have the spare cash right now to get a bikefit done on the winter bike, but I was wondering if there were changes I could make on my own to help with this overuse of the quads.

The 2 bikes are slightly different sizes with different geometry so I can't just try and copy the summer bike set up on the winter one.

Many thanks,

Rob

Why cant you, a bike fit isn't (generally) bike specific, it tells you where the saddle should be in relation to the BB, saddle to bar drop, saddle to bar distance etc. etc. all these things are adjustable (within reason) so unless the winter bike is completely the wrong size you should be able to get it pretty much the same!

Agreed, the contact points (bars, saddle and pedals) form triangles on each side of the bike.

Put the bikes next to each other (line up the bottom brackets) and see if the hoods and saddle line up. You should get an idea if the saddle position is different and hood positioning.
