Hi Guys

I'm on a lookout for a Hybrid, have done a bit of internet reasearch and think I have a few ideas on what I need:-
Primarily to be used on canal paths and roads, maybe bit of commuting to work at some point (around 8 miles each way)
I'm 6' 2" and 17 1/2 stonne and currently have a 20+ year old GT Timberline 23" bike.

Chainset with min 44 teeth for road use
29"/700cc wheels
Ability to take mudguards of some sort
Would prefer hyraulic disc brakes
Front suspension with lock-out feature

I've done some searching online and the GT Transeo 1.0 and 2.0 seem to meet my needs and 2011 models are available reduced still.

Can anyone comment on these two models or maybe throw a few other into the mix?

Thanks in advance :)

    Hi All

I am looking for a bike for my girlfriend, she currently has an 18" Raleigh mountainbike thats probable 12+ years old with suspension front and back. (She's just over 5' 6" and her's seems to be an ok fit for leg length)

We are now doing more canal path and some road cycling and are looking for a hybrid for her:-

Needs to have reasonable gearing (More road than off-road)
    Disc brakes would be beneficial
Front suspension inc lockout (no rear suspension)

    Budget is around £300

Looking around on the internet, I think it would make sense for her to have a womens bike rather than a generic one like she currently has but that does seem to limit the choice somewhat....

Any suggestions/advice/ideas very much appreciated :)

    Hi Blue
You might have more joy asking in Commuting - viewforum.php?f=40052
I know some people in here have hybrids, but you'll get better answers there - also a lot of threads on the same topic to read.

Just copy and paste into a new thread!

A Friend has one of these http://www.evanscycles.com/products/ral ... 8#features very impressed with the quality and spec for the price, hydro disc brakes, 700c, road wheels, hybrid, Carbon forks etc etc, mind you he picked it up for £320 which was a bit of a steal!

No suspension I know, do you REALLY need it? I don't on my commuter for tow paths.

Not sure why you want front suspension for what you're going to use it for. If you can do without, take a look at the Boardman hybrids - they tick all the other boxes on your list.
