I have 2 screws for fitting bottle cage but also have another 2 either side below the seatpost on the shoulders going down to the back wheel.

Just wondered what they are used for.

It depends on where they are. Pics would be good.

But with the info given sounds like the above info is mainly correct.

But there are many many different fitting that can be found on frames.

As per this pic. if you follow the seat post down its just above where the 2 cables cross.

Does it have a couple more just out of shot at the bottom of the seatstays? (the bits going down to the wheel, the ones along the bottom are the chainstays. Here endeth the lesson)

Yes there is another hole on the seatstay just above the derailleur on either side, never noticed them before as no bolts in them.

    Are you thinking rack?

Either that or they put them there by accident

Not needing a rack, so they can stay as they are.
  • Always wondered why they still do this on a modern frame because would the rack not foul a disc brake? you would have to use some fairly short screws not to hit the rotor!

Disc specific rack, and the main bolt only needs to go as far as the other side of the dropout, further doesn't help!

My commuter (avatar) runs disc brakes with a rack.
