Hi
I have a compact Campag SR chain set (2010) with 34 / 50 chain rings and I would like to fit 39 / 53 chain rings. Is this possible ? If so any idea on price and where I can buy them ?

Thanks
Gavin

  • Yes, it is possible, but I am not sure it is cheap... can't recall the brand now

If your chainset is in good conditions, you might be better off getting a replacement and selling yours on E-bay... it might end up costing the same, these chainsets sell very well

Yes, both TA and FSA make the rings you want for Campag compacts.

Talk to Neil at http://www.dotbike.com 01367 888235 and he'll sort it for you. I think price is determined by size, but £30-40 ish each, but you'd be able to sell your old Campag ring on if they are in decent nick.

Is there any disadvantage with converting a compact to a standard?

I have bikes with both Campag SR compact and FSA/SR compact- both came that way from Wilier - the only issue i can see is the chain length you have - might be a little short

  • Thank you all for the advise !

  • I'm not sure you can put a 39/53 on a 110 BCD crankset
why not just change your cassette?
