  • Hi there - my commute takes me past Ruislip where I join the Grand Union canal near Greenford station. All the way into Little Venice from there and then into central london. If you've got an MTB that'd be my recommendation - much nicer than using the roads IMO and not much slower

The Grand Union is the way to go. I join it at Horsenden Hill and it is a good route. Bit too icy this morning though and in the dark you would need decent lights.

What bikes are you guys using and how long does it take to do?

    THanks

  • I use a rigid mtb with slicks which works well enough, although the best bike by far would be a crosser.

From Greenford to Little Venice is about 30 mins I guess - something like that.

7.5 miles from Horsenden Bridge to Little Venice. About 30 mins but I'm often dawdling along looking at wildlife, not to mention the trains at Old Oak Common. I'm using my trusty old Subway now and have used a Revolution Courier in the past. Wouldn't fancy a road bike on this stretch but some do and regularly whizz past me.
