play and creak from left crank and spindle

Evening all,
Having replaced the bb thinking this would solve problem the creak still exists. Ruled out pedals so must be crank, I had a fiddle and after a bit of persuasion managed to find the sourse of noise. Its where the left crank is joined to the spindle (Raceface Respond) and there is a very little amount of play. I cleaned the area and forced some grease into the area to see if that got rid of noise for the time being and it has.
My question is will this require a replacement crank with spindle or is there a way of fixing it permanently?
cheers
Dave

The left arm is the one permanently attached to the axle? Sounds like it is about to fail."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

Thats what I thought the probable answer would be. Hopefully it will last a quick ride up Swinley tomorrow morning.
