I like the look of this jacket, seem to get good reviews, but nobody round here stocks them so its going to hae to be mail order. Does anyone with a larger frame have one of these? According to the sizing guides I should be XL (43" chest), but some reports suggest that I would be better with XLG?

I bought one (£135 on offer from Cyclesurgery at the time). Normally 42 inch chest and I've got the XL - it's the usual Assos XL snug fit. It's a good incentive to keep riding because if I put just a few pounds back on, I'll be struggling to zip it up!
You might wish to buy the size larger than XL0 -
If it's any help to compare against other brands, I have an Airjack 851 in XL. I wear XL in Campagnolo and L in altura0

They normally are quite tight, in the case of the 851 it's meant to be tight, if you want it a bit more confy, go for one size up at leastleft the forum March 20230

almost all my clothes are medium. i went for the large in mine and its still a slim fit with a tight baselayer underneath. if you prefer to wear more than a snug baselayer under it i'd buy something else as it would ruin the fit and you'd be too warm anyway.
i'd just go one size up."Unfortunately these days a lot of people don’t understand the real quality of a bike" Ernesto Colnago0 -
Like all Assos, they are a very close, race-cut fit0

Definately 1 size up. I have a 40" chest and XL is perfect. Incidentally, although rate the Airjack 851 very highly, I dont find it warm enough below about 5 Deg (not as warm as my Gore Xenon for example).0

I agree with the above - Assos Fugujack is just the job for the really cold days!0 -
Thanks all, XLG (XXL) it is then. Half price on Royles at the mo!0

I think it depends what you wear underneath. I was out at the weekend with an Under Armor thermal base layer and the 851 jacket in temperatures around freezing (including a 7 km long descent) and was fine. Hands were a bit cold, but can't blame the jacket for that.
A Fugujack would be nice too mind.0
