Group test in this months MBUK, the on-one big nose scores well (£20) although I like the Spoon and run 2 (commuter and MTB), cycle surgery did have a special offer on Spoon's (Cro-mo railed for just under £20) although the Spoon wasn't in the MBUK test the Charge knife was and scored poorly (but then it was in Ti railed trim which adds a stack of cost!)

Too many saddles are aiming to save weight, and really just road/XC saddles.
What you're probably after is something with a bit more padding, and that actually feels soft when you sit on it, while still being lightweight and 'racy'.
Out of the dozen or so saddles I own, this is definately the most comfy:

If you want a simple answer - Charge Spoon.

Few are disappointed with them, both on price and comfort. Might find everyone else has them too though ;)

Which is an argument for the big nose!

I think having a Spoon labels you as a serious cyclist but one who has at least as much sense as money, and if you don't like it they are emminently sellable for very litle loss, unlike some others (the lad bought an SDG fli off ebay, Ti railed, needed any loacl saddle in a hurry - £3.20 is a big hit on the original £70, as he's skinny as anything he loves it's narrowness!)

  • This again? If you have the same size and shape backside as me and the same sitbones - Charge
Spoon. Otherwise something else. It really is a personal thing. It does not go faster, run smoother, it is either compatible with your lower regions or it is not. Trial and error required. Having said that you can buy a Spoon new for £20 and a nearly new one will fetch that much on ebay, especially when the on line shops are out of stock.

I have a used one which I bought second hand to try. I now have a brand new one and was thinking about offering this free of charge to the general forum for trial. The idea being, I post it to you at my cost. If you like it you buy a new one and offer it on, if you don't like it, you offer it on anyway and pay the postage. Spreads a little happiness and helps people out. Will probably never catch on...

Bought a Fizik tundra 2 recently, hated it and sold it for a selle italia C2, hated that and got a charge spoon for £25. Cheapest saddle I've owned, probably my favourite though. Get the charge. Only other reccomendation for a comfortable saddle is the WTB rocket comp, doesn't look as nice though

Worth a punt on the Spoon. Only saddle I have that's more comfortable is a lovely old leather Selle San Marco Rolls on my road bike. But that would look silly on an MTB.
