As Title says..

I thought this would be a good thread for people who maybe looking for a bit of inspiration on where to ride next...

Kind of like a one stop shop...

Maps, details and addresses would be nice too... :)
Always remember.... Wherever you go, there you are.

Glentress, Innerleithen, Dalby Forest, Fort William, pretty much anywhere in North Wales
  • Has to be the bridalways of the lake district for me. Done a few trail centres ( 7 stanes, cyb, Marin, whinlatter and gisburn) and none of them IMO can touch the lakes.
When you go to the ground you are in my world. My world is the ocean. I am the shark and most people don't know how to swim
  • The Cairngorms, so much riding from fast flowing endless descents to tight rocky steep as hell, all within a relatively small area!

  • llandegela, if thats how you spell it, been there once and would love to go again soon, it was so amazing, it had it all. and its not a good ride unless you've fallen off lol, i hit a tree on the black run when i went.

    Tough one.

For a trail centre - Coed Y Brenin
For natural riding - Lake District

Not hit Scotland yet but I suspect that'll be a winner when I go hopefully this year.

Hard to narrow it down. However.... sorry to upset all the Llandegla haters out there, but since the new black and red sections have opened I think it's now one of the best places if you like to have fun and play around on your bike rather than simply mash out the miles.

For scenery and general awesome setting - hard to beat Scotland. However, south of the border, Penmachno is superb for setting as well as quality of trail.

I rode it last summer and still got soaked :?

Of all the places i've ridden Glentress has to be top of the list, it has absolutely everything you could want in a trail center with Singletrack climbs and some incredible descents. The red route is tougher than 90% of blacks i've ridden but fun all the way down, Spooky wood left me smiling ear to ear, Super G nice and rooty with plenty ruts, the speed you get on the motorway section, Berm Baby berm then down to jumps of Good Game that although blue with red option seems popular with DH riders. I can't wait to get back up there in May for 3 days at Tress and a day at Inners.
What if your dreams and fears existed in the same place? What if to get to heaven, you had to brave hell? What if everything you've ever wanted cost you everything you've ever achieved? Would you still go there?

    Stoke on Trent.
Simply because I don't have to drive anywhere and I can cycle stright out from my drive and within 10 minutes I am on rural roads or offroad somewhere. Also, there is a lot of places to cycle, canals, roads, woods, valleys, quarry's etc etc, it's all ace. I can cycle all that and still be back for 11.30 on a sunday to make my wife a cooked bacon n eggs brunch. Yum.
    um .. . . . .

For natural awesomeness the Peak and Lake Districts 8) Stunning scenery and some of the best rock-fest trails in the UK.
If I'm pushed to do a trail centre then C-Y-B/Penmachno or the 7Stanes,IMHO far superior to any of the English TCs :)
Oh yeah and I've got Wharny woods 10 mins ride away which is OK
  • Skiddaw, Keswick. 33 miles of good x country. Some tarmac, but that gives you time to relax.
A video here to give you a taster and show how much fun we had... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IXJOFRAG2wQ

  • All over Wales has a great mountain-biking vibe and a wide variety of trails. Brechfa is a favourite trail centre for great scenery and flowy fun trails, with a bit of gnar on the Raven trail! Then Snowdonia would be my choice for natural and wild riding, but haven't done nearly enough of that recently.

Kirroughtree, the black run. It's a trail centre but of the ones I've done it's among the most 'natural' feeling (along with Coed-y-Brenin I guess). And for me the ideal mix of challenge with exhilaration. I daresay the fact that it is a trail centre helps it ride well even when the weather's being particularly Scottish too. I found Glentress red a bit too well-manicured for my taste after that, although it was also great fun so I wouldn't criticise it exactly.

Hmm. Can I do a personal trail centre order of preference I wonder.

    Kirroughtree
    Glentress
    Coed y Brenin
    Llandegla
    Dalbeattie
    Monkey Trail/Follow the Dog (Cannock)
    Marin/Gwydyr forest
    Long Mynd

Can't decide where I'd put my usual haunts (Swinley/Surrey Hills/Stonor) in that. I'd definitely put Thetford after all of it at the bottom. And I'd definitely say I have lots of rides still to do. Want to do more natural stuff and hit the Lakes etc this year.
