I am starting to get a bit peeved at my bonty rhythm pro's. They need regular trueing, Bearings just dont last and they are pretty flexy. I'm only 12 stone (pretty aggresive though) and its noticeable. On the flip side they are pretty damn light and are tubeless ready (I run tubeless all the time).

I have been umming and ahhing about a new pair of wheels for a while but the chancellour has a pretty tight rein on me at the moment but I have about £350 that I have managed to get under her radar that I could use to get a set. I want them to be light, tough, well built, tubeless compatible and stiff 20mm front 135mm QR rear. so far I have been looking at.......

Hope Pro 2 evos with Stans Flow Rims
Shimano XT M776
Superstar Trizoid AM
Crank Brothers Iodine 2 (can be found at 350 if you look hard)
Hope pro 3 with stans flow

I would appreciate any advise on this subject especially from people with experience of these sets.

I'd probably go for Stans rims and Superstar hubs, £220!

something on Flows basically - the Hope Hoops or, as said, the Superstar wheels are good vfm.

    [Pro3 are road hubs]

Stans Flows or Mavic EN521 on Hope hubs.

Mavic EX721's on Superstar switch evo hubs £220. Bit tougher than the Stans & nicer looking. EN521's are a bit cheap & nasty.

Depends what you really want though. Stans Flows on Hope or Superstar would be my call (I went Hope, would again), if you want them to work hard. Gives you proper tubeless compatability, and a decent weight for excellent strength (world cup dh winners in fact)

If you'd sooner sacrifice a little strength for lightness, have a look around and see if you can still find Roval Traversee ELs for £360- fantastic wheels, not as strong or as wide as the Flows but about 300 grams lighter, and also tubeless ready. Much nicer hubs than any of the competition, they're essentially DT240s so light and rock solid reliable. I've got 2 sets of these things, love 'em- you'd expect them to be a bit flimsy but I had to ride out an innerleithen enduro stage with a front flat, right the way through all the rock gardens on the black route, bong bong bong bong... Barely a dent. Did manage to break a couple of spokes at fort william but that's just fair play really!

I got a set of hope pro 2 hubs laced to spank subrosa rims from CRC for about £330. They take a beating and have had over a year of abuse from 16st me and still as true as the day I got them. Not too heavy and got a decent review on here as well.

Not sure how well it works with your tubeless set up but I run Hope Pro II's with Mavic EX721's and find them both reasonably light and very strong.
