Orange Five or Lapierre Spicy?

Advice needed,
I have been riding a Lapierre Spicy for several years and have always felt its a bit heavy and perhaps overkill for UK trails. I do love the way it rides though. I have demo'd an Orange Five and also like this bike so do I replace my current Spicy with a 2011 516 or go for a 2011 Orange Five Pro with a few extras?
Also are their any problems with Orange Fives? I dont want to hear the frames crack as have read that else where and Lapierres can crack too so anything else worth knowing.
Cheers

try a zesty if you think the spicy is too much bike. personally (having ridden plenty of 5's) I think they are over weight ugly and over pricedYeti SB66c 20130

Rode a friends zesty and its ok, just trying to steer away from zesty's as their press fit bottom brackets are a pain. Have a good deal on the Orange so its not overpriced IMO.0

So what you're actually saying is "I've made up my mind I'm buying a Five, please could you make me feel good about that decision."
I've ridden a whole load of things in my quest for a 120-140mm travel allrounder and the best two (for me) were the Yeti 575 or the Transition Bandit. Despite already owning a Yeti (ASR) the Bandit won me over and I now ride that. Seems to be picking up excellent reviews now that it's been out on test on STW and IMB as well.Trail fun - Transition Bandit

Sorry, but have to stick up for the 5 here - if you have demo'd one and you like it, and you have found one for a good price, surely there's your answer?!! Buy the 5
I know there are lots of them around, and everyone here seems to have developed a pathological hatred of them, but I have honestly not had any problems with mine (and I ride A LOT). It's done everythng from DH trails in Morzine to xc races - if I could only have one bike, that would be itLife is not measured by the number of breaths you take, but by the number of moments that take your breath away....

Five rides great but sounds once it's a few months old will sound like a sack of spanners. Nothing wrong but that big swinging arm seems to amplify the most minor insignificant creak. I don't think I could live with it though I would buy one over a zestyTransition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350

There is usually nothing at all wrong but if my Giant sounded like that I would be very worried.
This also affects the Alpine 160, 224 & older Patriot. They all ride very nicely though.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350 -
Five is a great bike... You could most likely get better value elsewhere though, there's no shortage of great bikes these days tbh. More testrides needed.Uncompromising extremist0
