Drove into work for the first time since about June, it felt so strange! I only covered 1800 miles in the car last year and that was just pottering around picking stuff or people up. M25 today, it felt weird. Can't explain why, it just did.

My normal drive to work is ok in terms of traffic, but when I find myself driving somewhere different that involves sitting in queues of stationary traffic I find it strange. Can't figure out why people do that to themselves, when I bet 90% of them live within 10 miles.

I have been forced to drive in for the last two weeks and its soul destroying !!! (Covering a service engineer)
Sitting in traffic for 35 minutes when I know I can be home in ten minutes on the bike .
Next week I am free from the curse and I cant wait, been doing a Roller session every night just to keep from going insane

Drove in yesterday after a hospital appointment - so 'hissed' off with the Specialists that I really couldn't be bothered riding. Topped off with forgetting to put my tax disk in the car, so had to go back as I have to park on side streets as I don't have a car park pass - ended up over half a mile away from work.

Got to drive tomorrow as have a 'health CBT' course to attend at lunch (all associated with my RTA 3 years ago).

Hate driving to work. So much traffic, and stress of parking.
  • My reason for driving in is that it's my birthday today and I wanted more time with the family (presents innit) this morning rather than creeping out at 5.30am. Good reason to drive but still prefer the bike.

I'm eating like I've ridden in just to make sure I don't mess up my metabolism (plus I'm friggin' hungry anyway - I've always blamed that on the bike!)

Rule here is you have to buy everybody cakes on your birthday. Shall I pm you the address?
    Oh, and happy birthday.
  • Thank you!

If I bought everyone in the building cakes I would need about 3000 cakes. Most of my department is out travelling today so if I bought cakes I would need 3...and that would include mine. I'll wait till next week and get them in I think!

    Mmmm, cake.

how do people live with traffic?! i think i would be suicidal (ok maybe over reacting) if i had to put up with it day in - day out....

They probably enjoy the soothing tones of Chris Moyles or Chris Evans on the way in and a bit of Scott Mills on the way back; what could be more relaxing?

only drive when I really need to(ie got to pick up something I'd rather not or can't carry) or on sundays when I take clean clothes and towels etc.My standard journey by bike is at very most 25min worst by car was 16min on average 12min,on the plus side I feel much happier riding in than i ever did by car.
