Road Shoe Fit

Hi

I've just taken delivery of a pair of the dhb road shoes from Wiggle. I bought my usual size and my toes are quite tight in the end. Not bent double like my climbing shoes, just grazing the end of the shoe. So far I've been using MTB shoes and they are a roomier fit, so is this normal for a road shoe or should I be thinking about returning them for the next size up?

Any help will be very much appreciated.

Thanks, Kevin

Hi Kev, road shoes are another minefield to get right, some will fit in your size and some wont !!

If your toes are touching the end of the shoe like you say, then i would say you need the next size Up. You need abit of room in them to let your feet swell a tiny bit. I think youd suffer with these being you dont have any room in um.

    Hope this helps.

That's great, thanks. I can afford to wait as there's nothing practically wrong with my old shoes. I just had some Christmas money burning a hole in my pocket.

Bike shoes fit isn't quite like running shoe fit mainly because they should be snug enough that your foot doesn't move about, otherwise you'll lose power - however, toes touching the end would be too tight.
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..

Toes touching the end will be toes hard up against the end after a short time out of the saddle. They need to fit snug around the heel and mid foot but have good toe room. You will get some adjustment from the straps but this does not affect the toes. They should also fit correctly for width. Better a little wide than too narrow. Shoes are one of the few things I will always get from a shop.

That sounds sensible, but shops seem to carry such a small range, at least in Nottingham. Are there any good places to buy I should know of?
    Thanks.
