Surrey routes for a newbie!

Hi, Just got my first mtb, although have been a roadie for a few years (sorry!)

I've heard that the Surrey Hills are a good place to ride, especially Leith Hill. But I don't know where any of the routes are.
I'm a beginner at mtbing, so I'm not looking for anything too steep/tricky/scary, but maybe some xc or singletrack routes where I can get used to the bike and learn some skills.

Can anyone recommend somewhere to go?

Thanks!

    Hello mate

Have a look on SurreyHillsMTBer (google it). It has the common trails under the useful links on the right hand side. I have yet to get over there so I can't vouch for how accurate they are. Seems a good place to start though.
If at first you don't succeed, spend some more money on kit!

Surrey Hills are great but it's a big area so lots of riding around if you don't know it.
Swinley is worth a look - smaller but plenty of fun trails.
Take a look in London Calling in Rides. Rides organised (very badly) most weekends in SH, Swinley and other places.
You are welcome to join in, it's very informal and lots of time spent resting, talking, eating and in my case smoking.

Thanks for the help guys. Should get to do a bit of exploring this weekend.

I'll probably take you up of a London Calling Ride at some point too - would be good to meet some other mtbers. I think I should spend a bit of time getting used to the bike and learning some basics first though. Think I'd be a bit of a liability at the moment!!!

I wouldn't worry about it, we have quite a few new people meeting up, and not many have actually died so far.
