Cycle /holiday insurance for abroad

got a week away in france with some mates,got a passport,what else do i/we need?

    Insurance is just a bet you are placing - so it depends on the risk you are prepared to take.

    As long as you have your EHIC card (you DO have an EHIC card yes?), then you've no great worries about medical treatments, unless it's something serious (in which case repatriation could be pricey). But it is only France, not the depths of sub-Saharan Africa.

    I have travel insurance, world wide - but you need to check any policy that it covers cycle touring. As standard many do not - mine I have to pay extra to cover cycle touring. Read even further into the fine print and you may find some policies insist on helmet wearing, which may or may not be your thing.

    Off the top of my head we pay (two adults) about £100 per year for worldwide coverage with cycle touring.
  • I've always used http://www.insureandgo.com/ for when i go away skiing or cycling. Never needed to claim so can't report any problems, but they are certainly competitive!
