can you cut shimano pro carbon bars and not die?

some manufacturers say you can (easton) others say you cant (ritchey). I cant see anything on the shimano pro website and need to chop and couple of cm off...
can anyone give a categorical (ie company supported) answer? thanks

Some have inserts in he ends of the bars some do not.

Here is the official word. Madison kindly answered:
Unfortunately the carbon layup and end construction on these bars are not designed to be cut down.
