I currently have a fox vanR coil shock on my coiler, im looking at changing to a fox RP2,3,or 23, as i would like to able to lock out the suspension so i can use it on road, is there any other shocks i should look at or is it best to stick with one of the fox ones, does anyone know which shock would best suit the coiler. is there any real weight difference between air and coil, and would it be noticibly lighter? Thanks

There are differences in weight, air shocks are decently lighter than a comparable coil shock. Noticeable lighter, I doubt that, but definitely lighter by a few 100gs depending on model.0

None of the RPs will let you lock the shock out.A Flock of Birds

They do have pro-pedal though which is a pedal stroke damping effect which attempts to deal with pedal bob you might get when climbing. Some bikes don't really have a problem with it though, all depends on the suspension system on the bike.
Some find it useful on climbs especially flat ones (i.e. road) as you get little suspension on small bumps and I believe more so if you climb out of the seat. I get little to no benefit from it as both full sus bikes I've had don't suffer from much bob and pro-pedal makes virtually no difference to me.0 -

Some Monarchs have a lockout, the Fox Triad has a lock out, some DT Swiss have lockouts, there's quite a few and yes they can all handle a bit of light downhill (depends on your meaning of light downhill though).0 -
i have seen an x fusion with lockout but not sure if they are any good ?Trail bike: Kona Coiler 06, Rockshox domain 318is, juicy 7s, sun rims s-type.

why you riding it on road?
If you're riding it on road to trails, i'd put up with the bounce and take my time instead of swapping out to a possibly limited shock just to get lockout.
Would consider propedal, not lockout...0
