Will these helmet mounts take a 25mm ultrafire torch?

  • I would doubt it. They are made to house the joystick which is thinner than that. The housing is quite rigid, which is perfect for lighting your way with the right torch but sadly it is unlikely to hold something fatter. There are a multitude of mounts for cheaper lights available of course. Personally I find the ones with velcro straps fiddly, bouncy and awkward. There are longer threads on here about lights, than there are queues for hot toys at Christmas.

The problem I have is that I have an Urge Endura o Matic helmet with limited options for mount of lights. The joystick attatches nicely to one of the rear mounts.
I have now read a review a lad wrote on chainreaction. He says he purchased the joystick for his torch and that it will take torches between 22 and 25mm although 25mm is quite tight.

I have the Urge Endura -O-Matic helmet and use a velco mount very sucessfully. It grips really well.

I've put the Royal Mail elastic band on the torch to provide a cushioning to protect the helmet as sometime I move the torch forward so the front rests on top of the helmet.

I was going to try a joystick mount, but tried this method above first and it works so well, I've not got any reason to change.

Where did you buy the mount from? All the ones on EBay are configured wrong to fit vents one behind the other. They seem designed for side by side vents.

Cheers for that found one on photonshop. Already ordered a joystick, but if it doesn't work I'll get this instead.

I've only purchased the mount at £17.99 not the torch.

    Less than £2.
Or on UK eBay for about around £4.50 delivered. Search on "torch mount".

    ah right..

i was gutted i dropped £250 on a hope vision 4 led great light but then a week or so later heard of these cree led torches, our kid uses 2 of these one bars one helmet, and they every bit as good as the hope vision but for a fraction of the price..

Yeah I have a Cree XML light with battery pack for the bars, then I have two Cree torches, one for bar and the other for the helmet.

There's cheaper ways to do it but the Joystick mount really is a lovely bit of kit. I have to pack out my XML torch slightly with electric tape to get it to fit but otherwise spot on. Ironic really, since the Joysticks really are just very expensive, crippled torches.

Well the Joystick mount arrived today and it fits on my Urge helmet a treat and my Ultrafire torch fits nice and tight. The mount looks great and is nice and neat.
