Well 2011 was a bad year, shoulder injury, then bike nicked so had to drag out the Knoa Mcrae out of the loft to use.
Now I have a few pennys to spend and have been flicking through the most recent mag which had the sub £400 bikes in it so off I trot to relevant shop to look at the Carrera it looks ok but lacks visual excitement so I leave to think on it. Notice a sports shop and notice 75% off and popped in to stock up on cheap t shirts whilst in there I notice a bright orange thing in the corner its a Iron Horse Maverick 2.3 loving the colour but thats as far as it goes as I dont know anything about it.
Now this evening that orange thing has popped into my head so done some searching but cant find a review on it online.
So the question is does anyone own one? Any good? Whats quality like? What other bikes should I look at?
Bike is used for getting to work and pottering around local forest n trails with my 6 year old on his bike.

Cheers in advance
Paul

  • I havn't really been keeping up to date on the Ironhorse stuff, but when I lived in America they were a reputed brand with a decent following, and I had a hardtail from them which was quite nice in my eyes. Mind you I was only about 15 or 16 then, and didn't know much about bikes, but I loved the thing.

Sorry I can't be of much more use to you.

Iron Horse went bust and were sold (interstingly to the company that owns GT, Cannondale, Schwinn and Mongoose - but they seem to be concentrating on GT and Cannondale as their upmarket bikes) Now make BSO type bikes.
If it's this one don't do it.

The Dart 1 fork is about as bad as you can get.

Stick to looking at Carrera or Rockrider from Decathlon. They may not be orange but you'll get a better bike for your money.
    I don't do smileys.
