Boardman HT Comp brakes question

A friend of mind has just bought the Boardman HT Comp bike and I'm about to follow suit after much consideration. I met up with him today and noticed his bike had Avid Elixir 1 brakes on it and not Avid Juicy 3 as specified on the Halfords and Boardman website http://www.boardmanbikes.com/mtb/ht_comp.html
Are the Elixir 1 as good as the Juicy 3? Just seemed odd that they were not as detailed on spec of bike. Guessing they are successor to Juicy and comparable but just wanted to check.
Cheers,
Nick
PS. How good is that Epicon fork.....v impressed have to confess.

Newer model and read the small print.
Specifications can change."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

Probably better, Juicy 3's are notoriously not wonderful.I don't do smileys.
