Hello folks, I'm looking for a bit of un-biast advise really I'm looking at getting back into mountain biking after a 10 year break and things seem to have moved on quite dramatically I have managed to look at every bike under the sun i think but cant decide whats best for me I am quite keen on the boardman HT comp I've noticed they have knocked the price down to £599 this week which seems a lot of bike for the money but im concerned weather its up to the job. i will be riding XC quite a bit for the fitness side of things but being a bit of an adrenaline junkie i will proberbley be tempted to try some downhill-ish type riding trail-ish riding and general arsing about on a bike i know what i should buy but i cant afford it so i guess my main question is what are the boardman HT comp's limits and what what alternative would you recomend my budget is around the £800 mark i think as a guide i think the perfect bike for me would be a Orange crush 2011 but i cant stretch to that price really even in the sale
any help much appriciated

Hmmmmm
I would have suggested a steel on-one 456 build. I know they were doing the SLX build before christmas for under £800.
However checking their site, they don't seem to be selling steel 456 builds any more, just the carbon ones. Which is odd.0 -
I was in a similar situation as you, I was looking for a bike within £1200, not sure if its what your looking for but I just bought this...........

It was £1k but they have dropped the price massively as its the 2011 model.
some sites are still selling it for £900+0
