play on derailer

After a bit of neglect on my part (not keeping an eye on chain wear) I've replaced most of my drive train. I've indexed the gears pretty well but as I was sorting it out I noticed a considerable amount of lateral play where the derailer bolts to the hanger. I'm aware that there should be some movement but this seams quite excessive. Is there a bush/ washer that's part of the assembly that needs replacing or is it knackered! Help! :?
