Shimano 105 cable adjustment

Sorry for my first post being a question for help but here goes, I'm a bit of a noob with road bikes and I was messing around trying to adjust my front Derailleur, before removing the gear cable I made the mistake of not putting the gearing onto the smallest cog, now when I try to set it back up I do not have enough cable to re-attach it properly, I have tried adjusting it near the gear lever but it only gives me a few mil or so.
Any help would be appreciated.

Do you mean you've cut the inner cable too short? If yes surely you have to just get a new inner? If no - what do you mean?0
