Replace 7 speed Rear Mech
I would like to change my 7 speed rear mech, as there is no such thing now, could I use an old 105 9 speed one. If so would I need to change the jockey wheels as Shimano 7/8 speed are different to 9/10 speed ones.
I'm not sure why the jockey wheels have different number of teeth (7/8 speed = 10 teeth and 9/10 speed has 11)
I have put a 9 speed crank on the bike with an eight speed chain and all works fine here.

most shimano rear mechs will work fine as they are. 7-8-9 and road 10spd are all fairly interchangable. with the odd exception.
leave the Jockey wheels as they are as they will be fine."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."
