Apparently they have apologised for it, but it does actually look deliberate to me. The horizon on the right doesn't seem to match and looks like it could be shopped.

Think some Frenchie working there got bored with his job. Other theories include it being a marketing ploy. Bet they've sold more stuff since this.

Or maybe that's just their stock background of a typical French beach. They probably saw it did the French shrug and thought it was normal.


The guy gets around though.
