hello all, im considering removing the top chain ring and fit a bashguard and only run 2x9 set up due to i very rarely use the top one and have had a couple of puncture wounds from it,
my questoin is, will the shifter have to be changed to 2x? or will it be ok to leave it?

no you can limmit the movement of the front mech with the limmit screws..
just adjust the limmit screws to suite the new set up..www.bearbackbiking.com

Is the correct answer. Did exactly that when I moved everything from the Yeti to the Bandit and went from 3x9 to 2x9.Trail fun - Transition Bandit

Best set up is to have the shifter work in old equivalent of granny and middle, with the outer ring locked out by the mech's adjuster screw. This way you don't end up with a 'ghost granny'.A Flock of Birds
