Anyone bought from Dengfu bikes lately?
I'm putting together a little winter project with a FM028 but their website seems to be down at the moment.
Just wondered if anyone had had any dealings with them over the holiday period.
Cheers, Jon

Not recently, but I did buy an FM028 frame last year. Ive recently changed to a cyclo cross bike so I may be selling it if you're interested?0
-
Might be interested. What size and finish?
Btw. How did you get on with the buying process from Dengfu? How is the frame?
Cheers, Jon0 -
Its a size 58cm with an uncut ISP, the finish is 3k standard (i was going to go for the matt finish but it cost more and weighs more!)
The buying process was fairly straight forward really, had a chat with them, sent some money and the frame arrived about 2 weeks later.
It rides nicely, one thing I noticed over my previous carbon planet x is that it feels much stiffer, both the back end and the forks (with the big tapered steerer)
Not sure what it weighs, somewhere around 1100g I think, going by weights posted on other forums.
Have you seen the thread on roadbikereview? Loads of info on there.0 -
Hi
I bought one of their frames last year (FM 028 non isp) with a bespoke paintjob from them and have been really pleased with it, raced on it last season and the only problem I found was that the headset that came with it was not great. Apart from that Id definately recomend getting one if you are after a bargain frame and you dont need the kudos of a big name brand.
All corespondance was with Mina and was spot on.
So pleased with the service that Im soon to order a set of wheels from them.
I can mail you pictures of the frame if you are interested

There is a massive thread on the chinese carbon on the roadbikereview forums: http://forums.roadbikereview.com/bikes-frames-forks/chinese-carbon-thread-ebay-direct-version-5-0-a-241785.html
well actually there are 5 massive threads! and the 5th is currently on page 215!
I would ask there because that thread gets a lot of daily traffic.. and it appears that a lot of people are buying the frames.0 -

Hm. Might be a bit big. How tall are you and what's your inside leg?
What do you want for it?
Cheers Jon0 -
I think my inside leg is somewhere around 34", the ISP was only just long enough really.
Have you seen the geometry chart on the website? The top tubes are quite short if I remember, I think the top tube on the 58 is 567mm off the top of my head (cant get on the website at the moment)
As for the price, I'm not entirely sure. The sale would include the frame, forks, a specialized headset, a tapered carbon headset spacer, the ISP topper and a carbon steerer bung. I'm not expecting a huge amount since it is an "unbranded frame" - if you're serious make me an offer and I cant sort some pictures.0 -
Thanks for the offer styxd, to be honest having looked at the spec, the top tube is a little too long on the 58 for what I want.
Cheers anyway, Jon0 -
Styxd
I just saw that you have a FM028 and wondering what specialized headset you have on it as looking to replace the one I have in my fmo28

What size clamp will I need on the front derailleur of the FM028?0

34.90

Cheers styxd.
Just out of interest why did you go for the Spesh headset? I have read a few reviews that the ones that come with the bike aren't that good.0 -
I went with that one cos I knew it fit, its cheap (alot of these internal style headsets are well expensive) but most importantly, it comes with that big conical carbon fibre top cap/stem stacker which fits the upper head tube diameter perfectly - it looks far cleaner than a load of "normal" stem stackers.
The only problem is, I cant remember if it came with a crown race (I dont think it did, but I had one kicking about anyway) but I think any 1.5 crown race with the right angle will fit it!0 -
Also, you wont get one with the bike (unless you specify you want one)0

Ok cheers styxd,
Just one more thing, who did you end up paying? I've had an invoice to pay Tony@greatkeen.com.cn
That looks like the guy most have been dealing with.
Cheers Jon0 -
Yeh, thats the one. What frame are you going for, FM028? They're doing an aero frame by the looks of it aswell. What size have you ordered?0
-
I bought my own FM028 ISP from Carbonzone on Ebay and was really impressed with the correspondence received. Tony from Dengfu was really slow to respond initially. I went for the matt paint finish but to be honest, it was very poor (too thin / inconsistent) so i sprayed it up myself using 1/3rd litre matt black paint from the local auto paint supplier and my airbrush. Really impressed for the price, and also bought some carbon bottle cages while i was ordering.
I built the frame up as a winter bike using SRAM Force and AM Classic Aero 420 wheels. Ritchey bars and stem from a member here (thanks HBingley) plus nearly new Time pedals off ebay. Cant wait to ride it properly now so cant comment but it feels stiff and light from the brief ride up the road. Fitting the Crudracer mudguards today

Thank you sir ^^^^
Just finished fitting the Crudracer mk2 mudguards. 23mm tyres and guards fit fine on this frame. I think larger tyres will really struggle though if fitting mudguards0 -

I'm going for the FM028 non-isp 56cm. The geometry looks just right hopefully.0 -
I recently bought the cyclocross model FM058 and I'm really impressed with the frame and finish. I also purchased a pair of wheels too. This is my 2nd Chinese purchase, following a trouble free transaction with Carbonzone. Dengfu were not the best at replying to emails and correspondence. There was also a 'Paypal' fee with the final invoice which wasn't mentioned at any time prior. However, I got a frame, fork, headset and carbon wheels for less than £800. I dealt with Tony and eventually got the goods through after a few weeks. This may have been longer than normal as I'd gone for a painted frame with Dengfu decals. The headset was forgotten, but Tony posted this straight away.
I'll put some photos up once I've finished building0 -
This is my first Chinese carbon machine from Carbonzone

I'm surprised you thought the finish was so bad you had to paint it yourself. I had a paint job from carbonzone and it was top notch. It doesn't chip easily, no cracks and the lines are perfect.
Only difference being mine isn't a matt finish. Maybe they haven't got this one sorted yet :?:
Nice bike BTW. I wish my winter wheels were as nice as that!0 -
Frame, forks, bottle cages, seat post and clamp, headset and integrated handlebars all arrived a couple of weeks ago. looks lovely in 3k matt. Having a crap bout of the flu has prevented me doing anything with it so far.0
